Right after the Princess Tiara and Wand Cake for her youngest, my dear friend, Wendy, had requested a surprise cake for her eldest (^-^) Clara was turning 12, same as my Joy. Couldn’t help but to feel that time has indeed passed so fast. Wendy and I were from the same secondary school and both our eldest, are now wearing the same uniform as us for their past 6 years. The feeling is somehow surreal. Really wanted to put in my whole heart to make this cake for Clara. Wendy told me to bake a simple cake with Pooh Tsum Tsum as the main deco. It was to be just a small cake for their own family celebration.
Started drawing the template for the Pooh Tsum Tsum. My own kids love tsum tsum, so they were around to give me their thoughts. In the end, I made 2 different styles of the Pooh, still not able to decide to use which one for the cake (#^^#)
The date was nearing and still, I could not confirm what design I would make for the cake, not wanting it to look too plain nor too overcomplicated. The cake would still be a chocolate cake cos Wendy said all her girls love only chocolate cakes (^^) Googling did not help as none of the designs caught my eyes. In the end, decided to go back to basics. A petal frosting pattern and in yellow ombre to match the pooh macarons! The fresh Chantilly cream would pair up well with the chocolate cake, I thought too.
So happy that the design was very well-received. I felt so relieved after hearing all the kinds words and compliments. Had hoped that the cake would be good enough for Wendy to surprise her girl.
Back to the macarons, Wendy could not decide which of the 2 designs to use too, and so in the end, I used the rounder ones to decorate the cake and for the smaller ones, packed into a box for Clara. Someone else benefited too! It was Joy! She ate at least 5 macarons (somemore, the big round ones!) as she was seated at the same table as me, doing her homework while I was piping the cake!
Happy Birthday, Clara! You are growing from a sweet little girl, into a fine young lady with grace and heart!
