Ginger Honey Chicken Wings

Ginger Chicken Wings 1We were dining at The Soup Restaurant the other day and they were having this promotion for their Samsui ginger sauce. Hubby was conjured to buy 2 bottles, though I gave him the “why-when-your-wife-can-make-the-sauce” look. Well, never mind, saves me some efforts in my cooking. Saw the bottles lying around the other day and thought of using that as a marinade and do up some chicken wings. Hehehe… by now, if you have been following my blog, you would be convinced my love and lust for chicken wings (^-^)

I started mixing the condiments and sauces based on gut feeling and “aggaration” but took efforts in remembering the quantity so that I could later record down the recipe, if it was a success (^-^) And I was so glad that the wings turned out yummy! Despite using airfryer, the chicken wings were so juicy and tender. We finished all of them at dinner, and everyone gave a satisfied grin as a testimony to the yumminess of the chicken wings.

Below is the recipe. Please feel free to adjust according to your preference. I have used the airfryer but I am sure you can get the same results using oven to bake too. Hope you will like this recipe as much as we do. Bon appetite!

Ginger Chicken Wings 2

1 kg chicken wings, washed and drained
lemon juice, to drizzle (about 1/2 a lemon)

2 tbs of ginger paste *I used the Samsui Ginger Sauce from The Soup Restaurant
3 tbs light soy sauce
3 1/2 tbs honey
pepper, to taste

1. Pat dry the drained chicken wings.
2. Marinade the chicken wings, rubbing well with the marinade. Leave in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
3. Preheat your airfryer (if using oven, preheat at 200 deg cel) at 180 deg cel. Place in the chicken wings and drizzle some lemon juice over. Bake/airfry at each side for 10-12 min. Turn over and bake/airfry for another 10-12min.

See? It’s simple and fuss free, right? (^^) No oil was needed as I supposed the ginger sauce already has the oil in it. If you are using homemade ginger paste, you might need to add some oil to the marinade and/or brush oil on the wings before baking/airfrying.

Hmm … I think we can do this for our next BBQ too (^-^) Perhaps I can have a variety of chicken wings (sounds like Seoul Garden or those BBQ buffet eateries). I can have my Thai Lemongrass Chicken Wings (Just realized that I haven’t posted this recipe which is my fav!), Honey Citron Yuzu Chicken Wings, Gula Melaka Glazed Chicken Wings and many more!!!
